Welcome to your new Kansas Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers! This past year was full of challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to do things differently in all aspects of life. I am proud of our Chapter for quickly pivoting and continuing to provide our members with virtual meetings and training content. Thank you all for your support of our Chapter by attending the virtual meetings and trainings. We have had great turnouts!
Our ITE Chapter transitioned into a Section as of January 1, 2021. The board has been busy filing new paperwork, updating all the necessary documents, social media accounts, and the website. It was a big undertaking, and we are almost complete with the transition. Our area now includes the whole state of Kansas and the Missouri Counties of Atchison, Nodaway, Worth, Harrison, Mercer, Holt, Andrew, Gentry, DeKalb, Davies, Grundy, Livingston, Buchanan, Clinton, Caldwell, Carroll, Platte, Clay, Ray, Jackson, Lafayette, Cass, Johnson, Bates, and Henry.
As we head into 2021, we will continue with virtual meetings and trainings. I am hopeful we will be able to resume in-person activities by the end of the year. We have a strong network of professionals and the virtual platforms have enabled us to reach more of our membership. Once we finally get back to in-person meetings, the virtual platform may be something we consider in addition to the in-person option moving forward.
I look forward to working with the KSITE Board to continue to improve our Section by providing valuable opportunities for our members. I am thankful for our dedicated community of professionals and it is a great honor to serve you.
All the Best,
Janelle M. Clayton, PE, PTOE
KSITE President
